Okay, folks – I am a reasonably intelligent, educated, fifty-plus (we won’t go there) mother AND grandmother – why can’t I fold a fitted sheet? It’s not that I haven’t tried. Oh, I’ve tried and tried. I’ve had people show me in the past. I do it once, and then the next time – I forget how they did it. My sheets still look like a rumpled ball!
Last month I decided that it was ridiculous that I couldn’t fold a fitted sheet! So, as all “young folks” do nowadays, I YouTubed it! Oh my, there are many, many videos of people showing you how to fold a fitted sheet! Who knew? I must not be the only one after all! After watching at least seven videos and getting seven generally the same, but slightly different versions, I tried. Didn’t work. So, I watched five more videos – Yay, this time, I was reasonably pleased with my results.
You know, sometimes, we feel like we’re the “only one.” Everyone else seems to have their act together. They know exactly who they are, where they’re going, and what they’re going to do when they get there. But, do they really? As silly as it sounds, I found comfort in the fact that evidently, I’m not the only one who can’t fold a fitted sheet! In the parable of The Talents in Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus tells of three men given talents of money by their master. One was given five. One was given two, and one was given one. While I know these talents were coins to invest, I also think the parable represents the fact that we’re not all given the same talents or abilities. Some of us may be musically inclined. Some may be able to sew (how Steve wishes I got that one!), while others may be great Bible class teachers. We’re not all good at the same thing. How wonderful that God gave us different abilities that we can use together to do His work!
Evidently, I come in low with the “talent” of folding a fitted sheet! Urgh! Guess it’s time to watch some videos…… God Bless, Courtney
