I’m so excited because this weekend is our PARTY TIME! We are literally hosting five events in four days at our house. I know – it’s a little much, but once the house is decorated and clean, the more the merrier! I love to entertain at Christmas time! I’ve had the Santa collection, the village, and the tree up for almost a month, but the house cleaning, well……. the time has come. So, I turned on the Christmas music and spent the day house cleaning. I found unexpected rewards.
I thought of the woman in Luke 15, who had ten pieces of silver. She lost one and searched her house high and low until she found it. Like this woman, you wouldn’t believe all the things I found while cleaning house. Each one was a delightful surprise! Items that I thought were gone forever showed up again, as well as things that I thought I threw away long ago. Taking inventory is a good thing. I bet we all have things that we need to throw away.
I also have the reward of a sense of accomplishment that comes from getting to mark the “jobs” off my list on the refrigerator. Sometimes I think I just make a list, so I can mark things off when they’re done. Do you do that? It feels good to walk out of a room, close the door and know that that room is DONE! Galatians 6:4 reminds us that it’s good to rejoice in a job well done.
Of course, the main reward is: a clean house! Now – only to keep it that way! God Bless, Courtney
Alway enjoy your writing. You are doing a great job!
