I’ve been watching a video of a special family, who experienced a wonderful homecoming this afternoon. The Dad has been stationed in Afghanistan for several months. He was welcomed home by his faithful wife, his two year old “princess,” and his new six month old son who was wearing a onesie that said, “I’ve been waiting my WHOLE LIFE to meet my Daddy!” It makes me cry just thinking about it. What anticipation! What excitement! What a wonderful day!
My favorite part of the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15, is the part where when the son is still afar off, and the father sees him and runs to meet him. He sees him because he was watching for him. I wonder how many days that father sat at that window, watching and waiting for his son to come back. God, our heavenly Father, wants us to come home. He is watching and waiting for us! He is watching and waiting for ME!
You know, we all have a homecoming in our future! In John 14:3, Jesus said that He is “gone to prepare a place for us, and He will come again and receive us to Himself, that where He is, there we may be also.” What a homecoming that will be! I don’t know about you, but I’m going to be working my WHOLE LIFE for that homecoming with my heavenly Father! God Bless, Courtney
Great as always.
