SNOW???? PLEASE!

For as long as I can remember, every year for my birthday, if anyone happened to ask, “What do you want for your birthday?” My answer would always be SNOW! Now, in my “younger days,” I’m sure that it had something to do with getting out of school for my birthday. What kid doesn’t want a “SNOW DAY – School is Closed Day” for their birthday?

Since I’m a little bit older now, and even though I suffer from Raynaud’s Syndrome and my fingers turn PURPLE in the cold, I still dream of a “White Birthday!” It’s especially nice if I don’t have to go anywhere that day. Don’t you just love sitting in your comfy recliner with your warm pajamas on, drinking a cup of coffee and watching it SNOW!

Of course, it ALWAYS snows on my birthday! When my oldest daughter was in junior high – probably 13 years old or so, she gave me one of my most treasured gifts that I ever received. She had “wrapped” a box that turned out to be a Ritz cracker box. Needless to say, I didn’t know what to say – she gave me crackers? At least they were reduced fat! But, then she said, “Mom, boxes don’t mean anything!” (Guess she’s heard that before…. lol) So, I opened the box to find it full of paper snowflakes that she had cut out just for me! “Now,” she said, “If it doesn’t snow outside for your birthday, it can snow INSIDE!” How I’ve treasured that Ritz cracker box, carefully making sure nothing happened to it each time we moved. It can be found in a certain place in my closet, and every year that it doesn’t snow outside – then, I throw the box in the air and it snows inside for my birthday! Of course, picking them all up isn’t near as much fun as pouring them out! But – that’s what grandchildren can do!

What a JOY!

According to the forecast, it looks like God may pour out the snowflakes for me this Saturday for my birthday. But…..just in case, I’ve got it covered! Thank you, Dianne! God Bless, Courtney

  4. Growing up I remember we were ALWAYS out of school for snow on your birthday. Of course you always told me we were out because it was your birthday. I didn’t think it was fair we didn’t get out for my birthday in February! Lol. Childhood memories ❤
