Have you ever been disappointed when things don’t happen the way you wanted them to? You have all of these “dream” ideas of what would make the day perfect, but then, you realize that other people, even those who love you most, have lives, too. Your plans don’t coincide with their plans. They’ve got “other” things to do. Disappointment is hard to deal with, but life goes on, and we have to find a way to deal with the disappointment and pain or it will grow and fester and destroy us.
I’ve always heard the saying that when one door shuts, a window opens. It may require stepping back from that door and doing some “soul searching” to get to the point where you can handle the anger or sadness. Once you come to the point where you can say “Bless their hearts! Think of what they missed!” Then, you’re ready to search for that window.
The window may already be open ready for you or you may have to search for the window and push it open yourself. Life can be hard – we may have to work to get to where we want to be. But just as the struggle of a butterfly to get out of the cocoon makes it strong enough to fly, our struggle to open that window makes us stronger. We’ve all had to deal with disappointments at one time or another. May we all get to the “Bless their hearts!” stage, and may we move on to brighter things. Who knows what God may have in store for us! God Bless, Courtney
Thanks, I really needed to hear this today. Sometimes we just need to be reminded.
