Last Sunday, Steve preached a lesson taken from II Corinthians 13:5 which says, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves,, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” We all have opinions about everyone else and what they should be doing, but examine myself? That not so easy.

With Jesus as our standard, He is the one by which we have to measure ourselves. How is your prayer life going? Does it compare to Jesus’? What about your Bible study habits? Do you search the Scriptures daily with all readiness of mind like the Bereans did? (Acts 17:11) Have you taken to commission to “go out into all the world and preach the gospel?” (Mark 16:15) Will someone else be in heaven because you took the time to study with them, and now they are Christians? These are the things that will be important on Judgment Day. Amos 4:12 says, “Prepare to meet thy God.” Are you doing the right preparation?

Yes, folks – our lives here on earth are just a test. We have the opportunity to spend our time doing good or wasting that time on ourselves. So examine yourself – are you ready for the test? God Bless, Courtney
