JUST BECAUSE. . .

Even though I think I saw some folks on the cruise that might disagree with me, I believe that just because it’s an “all you can eat” buffet – it doesn’t mean that you have to EAT IT ALL! You’ve been to those places where they have rows and rows of choices! Usually, everything tastes “good”, but nothing tastes “great.” Last week for lunch one day they had a “Chocolate Extravaganza!” Now, I wouldn’t be my mother’s daughter if I didn’t like every chocolate that I’ve happened to meet! So, I had a sliver of chocolate/coffee cake, chocolate turtle cake, chocolate raspberry cake. . . .you get the picture. It was chocolate OVERLOAD! Oh, my!

It got me thinking how nowadays, everyone wants to have a little piece of EVERYTHING! Why choose, when you can have it all? Or can we? We want what the church has to offer when we’re sick or dying, and we want what the world has to offer, too. And do you really want to be following the crowd? In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said in Matthew 7: 13-14, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” When you’re choosing, be like Mary, who chose “the best part.” (Luke10:42)

I would have been more satisfied with one nice slice of cake (not that I needed any!), instead of having so many different flavors mixed together on one plate at the same time. I’m learning…… God Bless, Courtney
