I’ve always heard it said, “You can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family!” You know, that’s true. You can’t help who your kinfolks are, but you’ll know real family by their actions.
Families pray for each other. Even when you know that they don’t want you to pray for them – you pray even harder. Nothing is too hard for God!
Families are “there” when you need them. I might not have seen them in a while, but if they called and needed help (that I was able to give), I’d do all I could to “move mountains” to be there. That’s what families do!
Families want their loved ones to be happy. Situations may arise that don’t make “me” too happy, but love demands acceptance and I’m usually proven wrong. I have to trust my loved ones that they know what’s best for them. While happiness may be a goal for some, I’d rather my family be in heaven for eternity than be “happy” for a short time here on earth. Wouldn’t you?
I’m so glad that even if I’m nowhere near my physical family, my church family responds the same. They pray for me, come to my aid at any time, and they are doing all they can to help me go to heaven! There’s nothing like family! God Bless, Courtney
