I’ve always heard the saying, “If life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” Have you ever thought about what that really means? First of all – it means that you’ve been given a load full of lemons! While lemon is one of my favorite flavors, I wouldn’t want nothing but lemons. Would you? Lemons can be sour. I can remember Aiden begging for the lemon that came with my ice tea, until. . . he got a good bite! Oh my, what a face he made! After a while, he liked it, but at that first bite – Whew! It’s probably the same when life gives you lemons. At first – it’s overwhelming. Then, you monitor and adjust, and start dealing with whatever has come your way.
The second part of the phrase is – “make lemonade!” While pure lemon juice is so sour, once you add a little sugar and a lot of water to the pitcher, you have one of the most beloved drinks ever. Lemonade “hits the spot” on the hot summer days. It is so refreshing! Making lemonade means to “make the most” of the bad situation because only you – can change that attitude. Sometimes, we find out that what we “thought” were lemons were really sweet oranges. Maybe we find out like Joseph did – what his brothers meant for evil, God used for good. Maybe God is allowing a few lemons to come our way for a reason. What should we do? Pray, pray, pray for wisdom and strength to endure. God has promised that He will never leave nor forsake us. We must put our faith in Him, and get out the sugar! God Bless, Courtney
