The Green, Green Grass of Home

I took a drive to West Plains today to pick up sweet Aiden, and I couldn’t help but notice how green everything is. The redbud and dogwood trees are just beautiful scattered throughout the woods. But, it was the fields that kept catching my attention. The grass is so green.

It reminds me of the time when Jesus was teaching in the wilderness, the people were hungry, and the only food to be found was a young lad’s lunch. I bet his Mom had packed those five loaves and two fishes with love, but he was willing to share. Jesus commanded them to make everyone sit down by companies of 50 upon the green grass. (Mark 6:39) What a picnic they had! After feeding five thousand men plus women and children, they gathered 12 baskets of left-overs!

I also think of the 23rd Psalm – David said, “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.” The Lord always provides for us. He gives us the best. And one of my favorite “green” verses is Psalm 52:8 – “But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.”

Thank you, Lord, for the green, green grass of home! God Bless, Courtney
