Out of Control?

At our house, whoever has the remote – is in control of the TV. Needless to say – we had a “Apple TV” for almost a year before I learned to use that remote. You have to use two of them – who knew? LOL! But, seriously, have you ever been in one of those situations where things happen that you can’t control? Did you panic? Did you get angry with God because you are having to deal with this “mess” and you didn’t know what to do? I once heard that the only way God can show us that He is in control, is to put us in situations that we can’t control!

I’m one of those folks who like to plan, make a list, and mark things off when they get done. I don’t like it when things happen beyond my control. I’m not crazy about surprises. But, when things are going our way – we tend to pat ourselves on the back. When God puts us on our backs – we have to look up! Ecclesiastes 2:5 says, “For gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of adversity.”  I Peter 1:7 tells us, “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.” Yes, our faith is sometimes “tried with fire.” What happens when gold is tried with fire? It comes out purer and more precious. What happens when our faith is tried with fire? We come out purer and more precious and ready to meet the Lord at His appearing if our faith is true. Some materials burn up in a fire. What kind of material is your faith? Would it make it through a fire that you can’t control?

Things are going to happen that are beyond our control, but remember, we know Who is in control. God Bless, Courtney
