I was able to attend my first Major League Cardinal Baseball game last night! It was awesome! It’s something that I always wanted to do, and I’m so thankful for Mr. G and Mrs. Sara for making it possible. There are a couple of thoughts that I have after the game.
First of all, there are “fans” and there are “fanatics!” It was COLD last night in St. Louis! That cold wind would cut right through you! Yet, there were folks there in the Cardinal t-shirts acting like they didn’t feel the cold. They were there for “THE GAME!” And it was a good game – at least for Card fans. We won 17-4. Our group, personally, made it over two hours and left when the score was 11-4 at the top of the 6th inning. We watched the rest of the game in our nice warm hotel room on the TV. I was amazed at how many people were still sitting there in the stands until the VERY END of the game. Yes, I’m a fan – they’re fanatics! Bless their hearts!
Second, before the game started, two school choirs performed. An elementary school choir sang, “God Bless America,” and then a jr high school choir sang the “Star Spangled Banner.” It was wonderful! There’s nothing like hearing those angelic voices singing acapella. No wonder God likes it so much!
Last, but not least was the atmosphere. The jumbo screen showing kids who were so excited to be on the screen. The taste of a good ole’ hot dog, and the sounds of the organ, playing “da-da-da-duc-ta-da – CHARGE!” It was a night to remember! Isn’t it great to live in America! God Bless, Courtney
