Are You Trying to “Steal the Pen?”

Do you like to write? Do you consider yourself an author? In a way, we are all “writing” the story of our lives – or are we? No, in actuality, God is the one Who is writing the story of our lives. He is the Author. Are you guilty of trying to “steal the pen?” We make all kinds of plans for our future. We like to think that we’ve got this, but when tragedy happens, we realize Who is really in control – and it’s not us! Things can change “in the blink of an eye!” Who is writing your story?

Colossians 1:16 says, “For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:” Yes, all things were created BY Him and FOR Him. He is the One who has given us so many blessings and Who takes care of us. David realized this when he wrote the 23rd Psalm. He concluded that the Lord was his shepherd, providing him with food and water, taking care of his enemies, and comforting him when he was afraid.

God has a plan and a purpose for each of us, even when we might not understand it at the time. In Philippians 1:12, Paul had come to the realization that “the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel.” Here he was – chained in a Roman prison, but this allowed him to “preach to the whole imperial guard and to all the rest.” (Phil. 1:13) God was using Paul FOR His purpose. He is doing the same for us today. He knows what is best for us. Are you “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith?” (Hebrews 12:2a)

We, as Christians should stop trying to “steal the pen.” We must trust the Author, who by the way – already knows the ending of the story! God Bless, Courtney
