No matter how much we swear that we’ll never say it, there comes a time when we’ve heard, “Why?” one time too many, and we reply, “BECAUSE I SAID SO!” Yes, I believe that all Mommas get to this point. Maybe the child is too young to understand our reasoning. Maybe, they do understand and are trying to get us to change our minds. No matter what the situation is – sooner or later, it comes down to “I’m the parent. You’re the child. I don’t have to explain myself. You must obey because I said so!”
You know – God is our Father, and there are things that He has said that we might not understand. Why is baptism required before salvation – am I just getting wet? Why do we have to attend worship so often? Why must we partake of the Lord’s Supper? There are millions of things that we as man, may question. We try to “change His mind,” by doing things “our way.” We may have a different opinion of what may be best, but as I’m fond of saying, “Opinions are like noses – everybody’s got one, but God didn’t ask me for mine and He didn’t ask you for yours!” “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.” (Isaiah 55:8) We must study His Word to see what He wants.
Sometimes, we just have to obey because “HE SAID SO.” Are you willing? God Bless, Courtney
