Momma Said. . . “BE STILL!” (#10)

Anyone who has tried to sit through worship services with a two year old on their lap has uttered these famous words, “BE STILL!” Now, it’s hard for us adults to sit quietly and still for any length of time – especially without our mobile devices in our hands, but it is almost impossible for a small child to BE STILL! All Mommas have said it!

But what about us as adults? How long has it been since you’ve just been still? In Psalm 46:10, God says, “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” In other words – Calm down! Stop your fighting! Be in awe and remember “Who” I am! Yes, folks, there are times when we just have to turn everything over to God, (He’s going to be up all night anyway, right?) be still and wait and see what He will do.

I’d like to encourage each of you to go outside and BE STILL! You’ll feel the wind blow. You’ll smell fresh grass, honeysuckle, or flowers. You’ll see the beauty that God has provided for us here on this earth. You’ll hear the birds sing. Jesus often went off alone to spend some time with His Father and pray. What an example for us!

Jesus even calmed the storm in the Sea of Galilee, by saying, “Peace, be still.” (Mark 4:39) The winds and the waves obeyed him, producing awe and faith in His disciples. Yes, we might be tossed and turned in the storms of life, but as Momma Said. . . “Be Still!” God’s got this! God Bless, Courtney
