There’s not a child alive who hasn’t sat in the car and peered cautiously ahead, trying to see the “eyes in the back of Momma’s head.” No matter how quiet you think you are – it’s very difficult to get ANYTHING past Momma. Of course, as a child, we hadn’t yet learned how rearview mirrors work. No, instead I was convinced that Momma had eyes in the back of her head! If not – how did she know?
Besides being able to see in the rearview mirror, Mommas also know their children well enough to have a good idea what is going on. She wants us to “be good!” Did you know that God, our heavenly Father is the same? He knows His children – He knows that temptation is going to come. He wants us to do what is right. Paul warned the church in Corinth, to “let him that thinketh he standeth, take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you , but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer (allow) you to be tempted above that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” (I Corinthians 10:12-13) God sees all and knows all. “The Lord looketh from heaven; He beholdeth all the sons of man.” (Psalm 33:13) We can’t hide where God cannot see us.
Parents also love their children enough that they discipline them when needed. More than one Momma has pulled off on the side of the road to “take care of business!” “For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.” (Proverbs 3:12) Yes, the Lord loves us enough to discipline us, too. He wants us to “be good!”
May we realize that our heavenly Father, as well as Momma, is always watching over us. God Bless, Courtney
