Are you one of those who wish you were brave enough to try something, but you never do? Looking back on my life, I can think of many things that I probably would have enjoyed, but I was too afraid to try them. I read a quote the other day from Babe Ruth that said, “Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the Game.” That’s pretty good advice. You’ll never know the joy of winning unless you “get in the game!”
Some people feel that they’re not good enough to be a Christian, and so they put off doing what they know should be done. They could NEVER live a perfect life – and that’s right, in a way. “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) But, they’re not giving God the credit for His mercy, grace, and love. “Who can separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (Romans 8:35) Paul goes on to say in verses 37-39, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, or principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” That pretty much sums it up!
Folks, we cannot let our insecurities keep us from striving to live the Christian life. We must keep on, keeping on, and trust God to give us the strength and wisdom to endure whatever comes. “Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of righteousness.” (Isaiah 41:10) He didn’t promise that the way would be easy, but He did promise that it would be worth it! Don’t let the fear of striking out keep you from getting in the game! God Bless, Courtney
