On those rainy, cold days when we couldn’t go outside for recess, we often played “Musical Chairs” at school. You remember – All you need is music (back then – it was a record player) and chairs, one less than the number of participants. You put the chairs back to back and everyone walks around them in a circle. When the music stops – you sit as quickly as you can. Since there is one less chair than people, someone doesn’t get a seat. They’re out. Then, you remove a chair and start again. You do this until it gets down to two people and one chair. The last person sitting wins!
When I thought of this “Game From Way Back When,” I was reminded that when the music stopped, those who were prepared – got a seat. We are not guaranteed a long life on this earth – it could be over at any second, but only those who are prepared will be ready. If you are not ready for judgment when that time comes, you’re going to be out! It is so heartbreaking when someone that we know – knows the truth, yet they don’t take advantage of the opportunity to become a Christian. They are just walking around the chairs, oblivious to the fact that the music can stop at any anytime – and it will, whether we are ready or not! “For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (II Corinthians 6:2)
What are you waiting for? God Bless, Courtney
