And the Rain Came A Tumbling Down

There is rain, and there is RAIN! I just drove through a horrible thunderstorm for two hours. Many thoughts go through your head when you’re on the road alone and the weather alert siren keeps going off, interrupting the radio, but the main thing I kept saying was, “Dear Lord, just let me get home!” Has that ever happened to you? I’ve been gone since Monday, and all I could think of was getting home to Steve, Miss Sophie Mae (our papillon), and my sweet fish, plus Buddy (the outside dog) and our chickens. Of course, my recliner, pillow, and bed have also been calling my name!

The sun was shining at lunchtime, but when it came time to leave this afternoon – the bottom fell out! Someone asked, “Don’t you want to wait until it lightens up before you leave?” “Thank you, but, no, I need to get home,” was my reply. I talked to Steve when I was an hour or so away, and he encouraged me to pull off the road if it got too bad. I thought about it, but I just wanted to go home. I didn’t want to stop and get gas. I didn’t want to stop and get something to eat. I just wanted to reach home!

Are you longing for our heavenly home? Are you willing to let someone talk you into putting off what you need to be doing? Have you become a Christian, but have gotten side-tracked, and let life change your course? Do you have that burning desire to make it home? – home where family and friends await. This home will be a place of no sadness, no tears, and we will be in the presence of God. I love that song, “Oh, for a home with God, a place in His courts to rest. . .”

There truly is “No place like home!” God Bless, Courtney
