Make It Count

As a child, we may “count down” the days until our birthday or count the days until Christmas. As adults, we count down the days until vacation or retirement. The anticipation of an upcoming event is part of the fun! Muhammad Ali is credited as saying, “Don’t count the days – make the days count!” Have you ever thought about that? In view of eternity, we have very few days on this earth. What are you doing with them? Are you making them count? Are you using your days wisely? Are you preparing for “the next life?”

We have only one Sunday of each week – are you “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25) We have five days a week with our co-workers – are you “in all things shewing thyself an example of good works” (Titus 2:7). We have just a few short years with our children in the home – are you taking advantage of those days to “lay up these My words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. Teach them to your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up” (Deuteronomy 11:18-19) Are you putting off until tomorrow what needs to be done today? “. . .now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (II Corinthians 6:2)

Today is the only time we have right now. It’s called the “present” for a reason. It’s a present from God – make it count! God Bless, Courtney
