What Would Your Friends or Family Say?

Today, I got to interview someone for a position with our company. There are set questions that we’re supposed to ask. I’ve got several favorites, but today I enjoyed the question and answer to: Name three qualities that your friends and family would use to describe you. Hmm. . . think about that. What would they say about you?

Would they say that you’re a Christian? That implies that you’re spiritually minded, honest, and moral. Being a Christian means that you have the fruit of the Spirit – Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control. Would someone use these qualities to describe you?

Would they say that you’re a hard worker? You know – there’s a difference between working hard and hardly working! Some people work harder at hardly working than they would if they actually did the work. Are you someone who is known for having a strong work ethic? Do you waste time on the job? If you’re asked to do something – do you “get to it” or are you one of those who will “get around to it?”

Would you be described as punctual? I sat through one interview one day where when asked, “What would you say is your worst quality?’, this little girl said, “Well, I’m always late!” Oh my – I couldn’t believe that she said that! Being punctual and reliable to work shows that you care about your job and it’s important to you. Being punctual and reliable when it comes to being on time for worship services shows the same thing – What does your attendance show?

While it’s important that we are respected by those who know us and it’s a blessing to be able to get a job here on earth, but how much more important is it that we’re living our lives here so that heaven will be our eternal home. God Bless, Courtney
