Pictures! Dianne and Aiden have been snuggling down on the couch watching videos and looking at pictures of him when he was a baby. He said, “I like those pictures!” When asked, “Why?” He said, “They help me remember because I don’t remember being that little.” Aren’t pictures wonderful! Just think about generations ago who didn’t have photographs to record their memories. We live in such a wonderful time in history!
Pictures remind us of the past. We can see how folks lived long ago. The kinds of houses they lived in. The kinds of clothes they wore, and what they felt was important – that’s what they took pictures of. Its the same of us today – I’ve got hundreds of pictures of my family (aka Aiden) on my phone. I’ve also got pictures of the mountains, the beach, and the pets. Yes, pictures record our current lives for future generations.
Pictures also remind us of how far we’ve come. I can’t believe that Aiden has grown so much! If you pick up any tabloid magazine – you’re bound to see “before” and “after” pictures of someone who lost a lot of weight. These pictures encourage you to “try what they tried,” and perhaps you will have the same result! Pictures show us our past.
Pictures can also give us hope. Pictures can remind us of where we want to be. A picture of a graduate can give us hope that we, too, will become a college graduate. The whole purpose of bridal magazines is to give prospective brides a “dream.” Commercials show tantalizing food to try to entice you to try their product in the future. Vacation pictures remind me to keep paying off the bills so that we can book that next cruise. Yes, pictures can give us hope for the future.
What pictures are important to you? God Bless, Courtney
