What Side of the Bed Did You Get Up On?

Are you one of those people who frequently “get up on the wrong side of the bed?” Do you get up irritable, grouchy, and complaining about not getting enough sleep? Some people claim, “I’m just not a morning person,” yet does that give them a “free ticket” to making everyone else’s life miserable? Now, all of us wake up with a headache or the flu every once in a while, but that should be the exception to the rule – not the rule!

How can we wake up every morning with the thought that something WONDERFUL is about to happen? I believe that can only happen when we go to sleep with peace of mind. When we can go to bed, knowing that we “followed in His steps” (I Peter 2:21) that day, we can sleep in peace. I always heard that prayer is the key that locks the door of the night and the key that opens the door to the morning. When we close our day with a prayer on our lips, then we will, like David be able to say, “My voice shalt Thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto Thee, and will look up.” (Psalm 5:3) He also said, “Cause me to hear Thy loving kindness in the morning; for in Thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto Thee.” (Psalm 143:8) The only way we can learn what He wants us to do is to study His Word. Do you wake up with the attitude of gratitude? “Count your blessings instead of sheep and you’ll fall asleep, counting your blessings.” (Irving Berlin) God Bless, Courtney
