The Right Thing

Years ago, Wilford Brimley starred in a commercial for Quaker Oatmeal. He used the tagline: “Quaker Oats – it’s the right thing to do.” I wonder if that sales pitch would work in today’s society? It seems like few believe that anything is either right or wrong. Some believe that something may be “right” for you, but “wrong” for me – and that’s alright. How confusing is that? But it really doesn’t matter what we believe, we must go to God’s Word to see what He says for Jesus said, “the Word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” (John 12:48) Yes, on Judgment Day, there will be no doubt as to what was right and what was wrong.

I find it so sad when Christians feel like heaven is out of their reach. “If I do all that I can to live right, what if that’s not enough?” This is when we must realize that if we do what’s right, God will take care of what’s left. Quit trying to do His job! If we do our part, He will do His part. So, “pray without ceasing,” ( I Thessalonians 5:17), “rejoice in the Lord always,” (Philippians 4:4), and “let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt.” (Colossians 4:6) “Study to show thyself approved unto God,” (II Timothy 2:15), “humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, (I Peter 5:6), and “whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” (I Corinthians 10:31). Why? Let’s just say, “It’s the right thing to do.” God Bless, Courtney
