One of my favorite Sunday School songs is “The B-I-B-L-E.” I searched high and low, and no one seems to know who wrote this beloved hymn. It first appeared in hymnals around 1925, and the author was even then, listed as “Anonymous.” It really doesn’t matter who wrote it – what matters is the meaning.
The B-I-B-L-E, yes, that’s the book for me. I stand alone on the Word of God – the B-I-B-L-E.
It’s such a simple little song, but it is so freeing to anyone who sings it. It declares that of all books – the Bible is the one for me! This is a personal declaration. No matter what happens – I can stand alone on the Word of God. There is nothing surer. There is nothing upon which I can rely like I can on God’s Word. It will never let me down. It is “quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even unto the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12) “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, but the Word of our God shall stand forever.” (Isaiah 40:8)
Thank you, Lord for the B-I-B-L-E! In Jesus name, Amen. God Bless, Courtney
AMEN!!
