Success

“Dress for Success;” the “Road to Success; the “Secret Of My Success.” As humans, we seem to have an innate desire to be successful. When we do an interview at work, we ask the job applicant, “What is success?” I love this question because you can tell a lot about a person by their answer. Sometimes – “it’s financial security or my family.” Most of the time, the word “happiness” is in the description. The dictionary defines success as: “the accomplishment of one’s goals; the attainment of wealth, position, honors, or the like.”

What would you say? What is “success” to you? In the front of my Bible, many years ago I wrote: Goals of my life: III John 4 and Joel 1:3. These verses are special to me as a mother. III John 4 says, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth,” and “Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.” (Joel 1:3) I believe that all parents who have trained, taught, and been a Christian example to the children are successful. Hearing my grandson, Aiden’s sweet prayers which he always starts with “Dear God, I love You. . .” thrills my soul. Are you successfully passing on a love for the Jesus and His church to the next generation?

How successful are you at keeping His commandments? Do you trust in the Lord with all thine heart? (Proverbs 3:5) Do you pray without ceasing? (I Thessalonians 4:17) Do you give grace to the humble and “humble yourself under the mighty hand of God? (I Peter 5:5-6) Do you abide in Him, and His words abide in you?” (John 15:4) Have you, like Paul “learned that in whatsoever state (conditions or situations) you find yourself in, therein to be content?” (Philippians 4:11) Are you successfully “being faithful unto death?” If so, you have been promised a “crown of life!” (Revelation 2:10)

My friends, the secret to success is to “love the Lord, thy God with all thy heart, will all thy soul, and with all thy mind. And the second is like unto it, ‘Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.'” (Matthew 22:37, 39) Successful Christians will live their lives in such a way that heaven will be their home, and they’ll take other souls with them. Are you on the “road to success?” God Bless, Courtney
