Be Faithful. . .

So I’m in Tennessee for my Mother’s birthday which is tomorrow. We’re sitting here making plans for the day, and she just warned me that I had to drive carefully today – she was too close to that birthday to die now! We laughed, but it made me think – we all have a goal of heaven, and we have to make it to the end!

I know of several people who become members of the church. They are “on fire” for a while. They are faithful in attendance. They invite others to services. They “talk the talk,” but then . . . life happens. . . jobs get lost, loved ones die, spouses become unfaithful. . . and they stop “walking the walk.” Heaven is our goal and we must keep on, keeping on until we reach the prize. Like an airplane – if we stop, we drop! Revelation 2:10 says, “Be thou faithful until death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” One of the saddest situations that I’ve seen is a faithful Christian couple who were married for over fifty years. Then, the wife died. Of course, the husband was “lost” without her. He, then began dating someone who is not a member of the church, and he has become unfaithful. I’ve often thought of his faithful wife, waiting on him in heaven, and I pray that he will once again turn back to the Lord, so they will spend eternity together.

Yes, today, I’m going to be especially careful driving Mother around. I want her to make it to celebrate many more birthdays! God Bless, Courtney
