Do you consider yourself to be a “happy person?” Thanksgiving is just a few hours away. All month long, I’ve been reading lists of things that different people are “thankful for.” Family, friends, pets, our homes, our jobs, etc. . . we do have so much to be thankful for – but do those things make you happy? I read once that it’s not happy people who are thankful – it’s thankful people who are happy! Which one are you?
I believe that those who aren’t happy, haven’t been counting their blessings lately. We start “thinking negative thoughts,” spiraling down into a funk, and we lose sight of how blessed we truly are. Did you wake up this morning and were able to get out of bed? Some couldn’t. Were you able to go to work today? At least, you have a job and can take care of your family. Do you have shelter from the rain, wind, and cold – a nice warm home? Millions are homeless. I bet you had options of what you ate for supper tonight. Many will go to sleep hungry. Have you been blessed to have access to God’s Word, the Bible and the freedom to worship Him? Millions have never held a Bible or heard of all that God has done for us. We have so much to be thankful for, don’t we?
Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be. So, I challenge you – Tomorrow – count your many blessings and be happy! God Bless, Courtney
