This morning I had an eventful drive to work. I was driving merrily along, singing Christmas carols when I got not one – but two phone calls during the same song! At this rate, it would never “be that time of the year!” And, I got stopped by the train. Yay, my day was complete when – my low tire light came on. Now, about a month ago, I hit something on the road and had a flat tire. So I pulled off as soon as possible today to get out and check the tires, trying not to panic. It was so COLD outside this morning – a whole 23 degrees! Well, it ended up that I hadn’t hit anything. I didn’t have a screw or a nail stuck in my tire. Two of the tires had about 27 lbs. in them and the other two had about 30 lbs. The pressure had just fluctuated with the change in temperature.
This got me to thinking how sometimes the worst thing we can do as a Christian is to do nothing at all! We must be aware that the outside world has an influence on us. The “norms” in our society have changed so much during our lifetime. People talk differently, dress differently, and think differently. Things that would have caused an outrage a few short years ago is now not only considered acceptable, but it is even pushed by those who claim to be Christians.
We don’t have to “do something wrong” to do something wrong. By doing nothing, we’re not moving forward, and that, my friends – is wrong and can get us into trouble. We must “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (II Peter 3:18) God Bless, Courtney
