Jingle Bells

Anyone who has been around me between Thanksgiving and Christmas knows that I like Christmas sweaters. Now, I’m not talking about the “ugly” kind. They give Christmas sweaters a bad rap. Okay, I guess it’s safe to say – I love Christmas sweaters! I literally wear Christmas clothes every day between Thanksgiving and Christmas! I used to buy one new sweater a year, and considering that you only wear it 2-4 times during that one month – they last forever! Steve and I got to talking last week about when did this begin? I’ve been doing it for so long that neither one of us can remember when I started wearing Christmas clothes every day. Its just “what I do!” I love to shake my head and hear my “jingle bell earrings” jingle. It makes me happy. Anyone who sees me knows that “this girl loves Christmas!”

This got me to thinking about how Christians are to adorn themselves. Women are told to “adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold or pearls, or costly array.” (I Timothy 2:9) This means that we as Christians should dress decently – not too high, not too low, and not too tight. Paul told the Christians in Ephesus to “put on the new man, which was created according to God, in true righteousness and true holiness.” (Ephesians 4:24) We are to put on the “whole armor of God so that we can stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:1) Christianity should be such a part of our lives that it’s “just who we are!”

Do those who meet you automatically “know” that you love Christ? Does “wearing” Christianity make you happy? Think about it…. God Bless, Courtney
