Sweet or Stink?

We had potluck today after services. So this morning I got up and cooked some bacon in the microwave to put in my green beans. Well, needless to say, when we walked back in after church, the house still smells like bacon! There is no denying that smell. Some believe that the sense of smell is our most powerful sense. They can trigger memories. They can literally “make your mouth water.” Some smells are welcoming, while others, such as a skunk’s lovely aroma – not so much.

So, do you smell sweet or do you stink? Did you know that we all emit an aroma unto God? In Galatians 5:2, we read “as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.” Jesus’ sacrifice smelled sweet to God. That should also be our goal. “For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life.” (II Corinthians 2:15-16) It’s important that we have the fragrance of Christ, if we want to be pleasing to God and enjoy eternal life.

So how do you smell? God Bless, Courtney
