Look Up

Yesterday, I wrote about it being the 20th anniversary of the day that my Daddy died, and I’ll be honest – I depressed myself! Sorry! Today, I want to focus on “joy!” King David had many opportunities to weep in his life, but in Psalms 30:5, he said, “For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime; Weeping may for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” We may feel sad and low for a time, but we know that “nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus, our Lord.” (Romans 8:39)

When you think about it, this earth wasn’t made to be a perfect place. If it were, who would want to go to heaven? We are just passing through this life to get to the next one. We know that in the next life, Jesus is preparing us a mansion (John 14:2). We are told that “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Revelation 21:4) I love the thought of God wiping away my tears – that’s such a personal thing. He loves me that much. How awesome is that? And as someone who lives with rheumatoid arthritis and neuropathy, I’m looking forward to “no pain!”

Yes, Solomon wisely told us “To every thing there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven. . . . A time to weep, and a time to laugh.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1; 3:4a) Friends, when you’re spiraling down, look up! God Bless, Courtney
