Have you ever been down in your back? Steve’s sitting with an ice pack on his back at this very moment! Its strange how when one part of your body hurts – everything hurts! Colossians 1:23 describes the church as the body of Christ. We know that Christ is the head of the body, (Colossians 1:18) but “the body is not one member, but many.” (I Corinthians 12:14.) Just as each part of our physical bodies are affected when one part is “down,” the church, or really any group for that matter is affected when one person isn’t “pulling their weight.”
Every person is important. We all have something that we can do. Some people are “mouths,” they are good at preaching or teaching. Some people are “hands,” and they are wonderful at sending cards, writing articles (or even blogs!) While we are all different, there is something for everyone to do. Think about the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30. One servant was given five talents, one – two talents, and one – one talent. Now I realize that these “talents” were coins, but the principle is still true – there was no such thing as a “no talent” man. Everyone has been given a “talent.” What part of the Lord’s body are you?
Are you doing what you can for the Lord? If you are hurting, have you let others know so that they can boost you up until you are “back on your feet again?” We are here for each other. That’s what families are for! God Bless, Courtney
