So when I got home from work tonight, I expected to be met by my outside sweetheart, Miss Ellie Mae, my 45 pound mutt. She was in the front yard, and I about had my feeling hurt that she didn’t meet me at the car until she proudly held up a dead mole! Yuck! Why do animals do that? They are so proud of “things” that they bring them to you to show them off!
Then I got to thinking, you know – people aren’t much different. There are times when we all want “a pat on the head” and a “good girl!” We like acknowledgment when we’ve accomplished something. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I think most of us are a little too stingy with our praise. We all love it, don’t we? I often challenge my team at work to compliment a co-worker or a client that day. Once you start looking for positive things – you start seeing them crop up all over the place! Not only are you making someone else feel good – you feel better, too!
The world would be such a nicer place, if we looked for the good in others and let them know that they are appreciated. Let’s let the trend begin with us! God bless, Courtney
