It’s All in Your Head!

30 more days! Oh my! Really? I instantly groaned, then I got to thinking. Is this “isolation, quarantined time” or “God-given alone time?” Am I “stuck at home” or am I actually “safe at home?” Honestly, it really is “all in your head!” Some people tend to complain about the inconvenience of “social distancing,” and ignore the warnings, but as a Christian, we should do all that we can to rid our country of this pandemic. Is staying home that hard?

In Philippians 4, Paul wrote from a Roman prison where he was chained to a Roman guard. Most folks would find this to be a deplorable condition, but Paul considered it to be a blessing – he was able to teach a new guard every eight hours. He wasn’t chained to the soldiers – those soldiers were chained to him! He had a captive audience! It’s all in how you look at it! Are you doing what you can during this “stay home time” to further the spreading of the Gospel? Are you studying God’s Word? Are you praying for those who are in need, our medical staff, our truck drivers, and farmers? What a blessing we have been given to have a time to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (II Peter 3:18)

Paul had learned a very important lesson. He said, “Not that I speak in respect of want; for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” (Philippians 4:11) He had learned to be content in prison. Can you learn to be content staying home for a month? Paul was able to “rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice.” (Philippians 4:4) Are you rejoicing and thanking the Lord for this special opportunity that we’ve been given? We must take advantage of our blessings, and that includes the long month of April. Will you be “stuck at home” or “safe at home?” It’s all in your head! Simply blessed, Courtney
