This afternoon when I got off work, it seemed hot in the house, so Steve and I went out to sit on the back deck. What a lovely day it was! I closed my eyes and just listened for a few minutes. I heard SPRING! The trees are budding and you can hear them blowing in the breeze. The birds were singing, and one of the neighbors was mowing the yard. It was nice, really nice. We have a bird who has built a nest on the light fixture on our deck. I can see it from my chair, out the back door. That “Mama” bird is so attentive to her nest. Who knows how many eggs are up there? But it reminds me that life is still going on. After “sheltering at home” and even “working at home” for the past few weeks, I haven’t been outside much. Taking a deep breath of fresh air, I felt hope.
Hope that life will get back to some sort of normalcy soon. I don’t know about you, but it’s going to be so hard not to hug everyone at church the first time we can gather again. Oh, how I’ve missed the ladies in my Bible class! And I miss singing with everyone! There is something about raising your voices, blending together in praise that draws you together in worship to God. Yes, “what a day that will be” when I can worship with my church family once again. I’m also looking forward to actually going to work – now, I know that sounds crazy, but I miss my work family! We have such an amazing team of caring and dedicated staff. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again. I’m looking forward to going out to eat! Okay – I’m looking forward to not cooking. I’ll be honest. I know that I’m not the only one – but, my stove and dishwasher haven’t been used this much EVER! And, I actually know whats in my freezer now. See, what a blessing! Most of all, I look forward to seeing my beloved family. I want to HUG them! I want to see them with my own eyes, and I want to hear Aiden say, “I love you, Gammy with my whole heart!” Oh my. . .nothing could be sweeter music to my ears.
So, hang in there, my Friends. In years to come, we’ll look back on this “quarantine” time, and smile. This too, shall pass. “Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.” (Psalm 33:22) Simply blessed, Courtney
