That Stuck Door!

I read a meme the other day that I can’t get out of my mind. It said, “Maybe you’re stuck because you’re pushing a door that says pull.” Doesn’t that make you think? So often we fuss and fume because things are not happening as fast or in the same exact manner that we think that they should, and yet. . .maybe we’re trying to do it on our own and God has other plans.

James 5:14-15 says, “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us. And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.” Did you get that? We must ask according to His will. How do we know what His will is? He’s done His part – He’s told us. We have to study His Word. For we know that “all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” (II Timothy 4:16-17)

But what about those times when we have asked for something in the right way – why is the door still not opening? We must realize that “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9) What we think is best may not be what God thinks is best. We can only see what is right in front of us. It’s like we’ve got blinders on, while God can see everything surrounding us, including into the future. He knows what is best for us. “For we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

He has told us what we need to know, but He doesn’t have to tell us everything because “the secret things belong unto the Lord our God; but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.” (Deuteronomy 29:29) We have what we need to open the door, we just need to not only read the directions, but follow them! And God will take care of the rest. Simply blessed, Courtney
