Mindful of Me

One of my favorite hymns was written by L.O. Sanderson in 1922 when he had just left a good job, friends, promotions, etc… to become a Christian. He thought that he was making a sacrifice, but in time he came to realize that he had been blessed beyond measure, and he wrote the beautiful words to “The Lord Has Been Mindful of Me.”

Verse 1: Though I, through the valley of shadow, O’er mountain or troubled sea,
And oft in the darkness, have traveled, The Lord has been mindful of me.”

Verse 2: “Much more than my grief and my sorrow, Much more than adversity,
Much more than the all I have given, The Lord has been mindful of me.”

Verse 3: “I’m rich! I am saved! I am happy! I’ve health and prosperity!
I’ve friends! I have doors ever open! The Lord has been mindful of me.”

Chorus: “The Lord has been mindful of me! He blesses and blesses again!
My God is the God of the living! How excellent is His name!”

This song has been on my mind this evening. I’ve been going through a difficult time physically, emotionally, and mentally the past few days. Now, I don’t believe that I’m all that special – I think that we all feel that way from time to time. Its during these times when we need to “cast our cares upon Him, for He careth for us (I Peter 5:7). How sweet are Jesus’ words, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls” (Matthew 11:28-29).

Friends, no matter what we are going through, the Lord is mindful of us. He is blessing us over and over again. May we not forget to look up. To God be the Glory, Simply blessed, Courtney

    Bless you Courtney.

    1. Thank you, my Friend! I just told Steve that I need church and my church family!

  2. Courtney, I know so many old hymns and call them to mind or sing in both good times and bad. To the best of my knowledge, I’ve never heard this! No wonder it’s a fovorite! I can just imagine a group of voices singing in an Assembly or other gathering. Thanks for introducing me to these beautiful lyrics.
