Decisions! Decisions! Decisions! What do I do? Should I do this? or should I do that? I’ve heard that the average person makes around 35,000 decisions every day! Wow! If you’re one of those indecisive people – I bet you’re stressed! I read the title of a book by Mark Batterson that made me think. The book is called “You Are One Decision Away From a Totally Different Life” (not endorsing because I haven’t read the book). But, think about it. There are some decisions that change our lives forever.
I used to think that one “had to go to college”. After seeing the paths that so many of our young people have taken in the past few years, I’ve come to realize how serious the decision of whether to go or not, and especially where to get a degree of higher learning will affect one’s thinking, attitudes, and life-long friends. Four years at college can change 18 years of Christian parenting and praying. This decision can change your life.
Choosing the right person to marry is quite a decision. In Matthew 19:6, Jesus said, “So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” God designed marriage for one man and one woman for life. No one will have greater influence on your adult life than your spouse – the mother or father of your children. Choose wisely.
Of course, making the decision to become a Christian is the most important decision we will make here on this earth because it has eternal consequences. Do you KNOW that you’re a Christian? Are you sure? This is not something that you can go by what others say. “For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ” (Romans 14:10) Delving into the Word of God to see what He wants us to do is each individual’s responsibility. Living a Christian life is a choice.
A decision that you make today could change the rest of your life. Pray hard and choose wisely. Simply blessed, Courtney
