Today was Election Day! Did you vote? I can finally say, “I did!” Steve and I had talked about getting up at the crack of dawn and voting early this morning. Needless to say, the thought didn’t cross our minds when we went to bed at 11:00 pm last night. Then, I had to work late this evening. By the time I got back to Doniphan, it was 6:40 pm, and there was a line out the door at the poling place. Well, out the door, and around the parking lot! I literally stood in line for almost an hour in order to vote in a handful of races. If I don’t know anything about the candidates, then, I just left it blank. I’d rather not vote at all than vote for the wrong person. Perhaps you think it was silly of me to stand in line all that time and then, leave half of the ballot blank, but nevertheless, I let my voice be heard. Let’s just say, “It was the right thing to do.” Simply blessed to live in America, Courtney
You did the right thing–I remember Daddy saying that it was better to not vote for someone you didn’t know anything about than to vote for the wrong one!! AND I guess that means it’s our responsibility to find out enough about a candidate to know if they think like we do. If I’m uncertain, I skip them, too.
