One of the things that I can just about guarantee you will happen is: the unexpected! No matter how well thought out and planned an event is – it seems like the unexpected always happens. And, often, it is those surprising moments that end up being our favorite memories. Today was such a day. I had unexpected phone calls, visitors, emails, and surprises all day long. No, my day didn’t go as planned – it was so much better!
When the first unexpected event happened, it could have made me mad. I could have panicked – not knowing what in the world I was going to do. Instead, I remembered my two favorite “mottos.” The first one is: “There’s always a way.” We might not see it immediately, but the options are unlimited. Sometimes, we’ve just got to sit down and think of the possibilities – brainstorm, so to speak. My other favorite motto to live by is: “The joy is in the journey.” I got to spend more time out “on the floor” checking on our employees today. They are so awesome! I really enjoyed it.
How do you handle the “unexpected?” You can’t always control what happens. Like Paul, we must learn to say, “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content” (Philippians 4:11). My friends, when you focus on the good, the good just keep getting better! We are truly, simply blessed, Courtney
