I saw a meme the other day that said, “Kids today want an I-Phone. When I was a kid, I just wanted one of those large box of crayons that had the built-in sharpener!” Do you remember those boxes? They had like 64 different colors! This got me thinking about all of the lessons that you can learn from a box of crayons.
First, a box of crayons is made up of all different colors, yet, they all live happily next to each other in the same box. Oh, for a country today that happily accepts each other and the rights of all to think differently – equally. Many of those crayons had strange sounding names – but that didn’t mean that we left them in the box and ignored them. No, we tried to use all of the crayons, no matter what their names were. Sometimes, crayons break, and if you’ve ever tried to “tape” one back together, you know that it usually doesn’t work too well. But, guess what? You can still color with a broken crayon. It may be a different shape or size, but it still works. Folks that are handicapped or “special” can still make pictures that are just as beautiful as anyone else – when given the opportunity. A brand new box of crayons represents endless hours of creativity. Even adults today have picked up crayons or colored pencils and color as a way to relax.
May we use the lessons gained from a simply box of crayons, realizing that we are all equal in God’s eyes. He created one race – the human race, and Jesus died for all. Simply blessed, Courtney
