I’ll be honest – I’ve been a little down lately. It seems that no matter how hard I try, there are some things that I just can’t fix – at least not immediately. Why is it so hard to admit that you need help? or even harder – asking others for that help? Maybe it’s because you think that it makes you look weak or inept? or maybe it’s because you’re afraid that you’ll let others down? Perhaps, it’s because you’re having a hard time dealing with the fact that you’re just disappointed with the ways things are working out. But I read a quote tonight that really made me think. It said, “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at – change.”
I guess this goes back to the “Is the glass half full or half empty?” dilemma. I can see this in two ways. I can either see these events as setbacks and give up, or I can see them as challenges and use them to move forward. Either way, I will have to live with the consequences of my choice. But – even more, who knows who else might be influenced if I choose to give up or who might be inspired if I press on? Whether I like it or not, others are constantly watching my actions and how I deal with life. They are watching you, too. But if you change the way you look at things – the things that you look at really do change! A change of attitude can transform into a heart of gratitude. Instead of bemoaning what we don’t have or what we can’t change, counting our blessings will help us to realize that we are all “simply blessed.” Courtney
