How Will You Be Remembered?

Our Doniphan Church of Christ family suffered a loss this week with the death of our dear Brother Wilburn Baucom. Wilburn was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. No matter how he felt, he always had a smile on his face. He always asked about my family – my girls, Aiden, my Mother. . . He sincerely cared about others. His funeral today was quite a celebration as his family gathered together to grieve. He died on his 74th birthday, and what a present he received! He was carried by angels to Paradise where he was reunited with his beloved daughter, Shauna and other family members. He got to see Jesus – it doesn’t get any better than that. Rascal Flatts is a country music band that has a song out right now called, “How Will They Remember You?” The chorus is: “Did you stand? Did you fall? Build a bridge or build a wall? Did you make ’em laugh? Make ’em cry? Did you quit or did you try? Live your dreams or let ’em die? What did you choose? What did you choose? When it all comes down, it ain’t IF, it’s HOW they remember you?” So, take a couple of minutes and think about it – what will others remember about you?

Are you a positive or a negative person? Are you a hard worker? Do you “get things done?” Are you dependable? Are you a “man of your word?” Are you thoughtful? Are you gracious and thankful for all of the blessings that you receive? Do you “practice what you preach?” Do you think before you speak? Are you known for “losing your temper” or sharing “words of wisdom?” Have you shared the “good news” of the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ? Will there be others in heaven because of you?

The funeral today was an easy one because of the life that Wilburn lived. What about your eulogy? How will others remember you? Simply blessed, Courtney
