Well, I don’t know about you, but 2020 outdid itself for the holidays this year at our house. In the now infamous “Style of 2020,” for the first time since we became parents, Steve and I spent Christmas Day home alone. The pandemic caused both of our girls to not be able to come home for Christmas. I can’t believe that I didn’t get to see my Aiden on Christmas Day. All day long I’ve been telling myself – that it’s okay. I know that it’s not anyone’s fault, but you know what – it’s not okay! Presence truly is the best present! Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Christmas. Traditions and making memories are very important to me – but, maybe the one thing that I learned this year is – perhaps – they’re too important.
So, tonight I celebrate the fact that we raised two beautiful girls who care about us so much that they wanted to make sure that we didn’t get sick. I celebrate the lovely couple of days that Steve and I have had home alone. We both work such long hours that it’s been nice to spend time decorating sugar cookies, watching holiday movies, and drinking hot chocolate in our pajamas! I celebrate my Doniphan Church of Christ family! It’s hard to believe that the first Sunday in April, 2021 – we will have worked with the congregation here for 25 years. It seems unreal. I celebrate my Current River Sheltered Workshop family – I work with the best people in the world. And I celebrate my blog and Facebook family and friends for the love and support that you continue to give me.
Most of all, I am so thankful for Jesus who is not just the “reason for this season,” He is the reason for all seasons! He is the reason for life! Nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:35). We are never truly alone, for we are simply blessed, Courtney
