Life never ceases to surprise me. Just when you learn to deal with the “bumpy road,” you realize that it was your “low tire” the whole time! We think that we’ve got things all figured out and then. . . life happens! I know that many folks can identify with this idea this year – 2020. When the year started out – many preachers preached lessons on “Envisioning 2020.” But, I bet none of them predicted the year that we’ve all experienced. We have had to learn how to “monitor and adjust.” While no one in my family has lost their lives to Covid this year, I did lose my dear brother-in-law back in February, and on Saturday, the day after Christmas, my aunt was in Tennessee at my Mother’s, and she suffered a stroke. She is currently in the hospital in Jackson. This has just brought “it home” once again, that we never know what life will bring – we just have to be ready to deal with what happens. We need to be “bed ready!”
I don’t know how people who do not have a strong faith in God do it. I have found great peace in the Scriptures – knowing that “all things work together for good” (Romans 8:28) and “He will never leave us nor forsake us” (Deuteronomy 31:6). I find strength in being able to bring my petitions and prayers before God’s throne, know that He is truly the “Great Physician” (Mark 2:17). I find comfort in knowing that my church family is praying with me and for me, for we know that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16). Oh, the power of prayer!
Once again, I’m reminded of something that I’ve often said – I believe that sometimes the Lord puts us on our backs, so that we will look up. We know not what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future. He’s got this! Thy will be done. Simply blessed, Courtney
