The Lord’s Day

Today is such a special day! It’s the first day of the week and my Doniphan Church of Christ family is going to “gather together” at one service this morning for the first time in over a year. There have been many changes and challenges during this past year. We have had new babies born and we’ve lost dear brothers and sisters in Christ, either by death or relocation. But oh what a wonderful day it is! Jesus rose from the grave on the first day of the week and forever changed the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday. It is truly the “Lord’s Day,” and we are commanded to “assemble ourselves” (Hebrews 10:25) and partake of the communion to remember his death until He comes again (Luke 22:19).

Today is also a very special day for me and Steve. Today marks 25 years of us working with the church here in Doniphan, Missouri. It is rare for preachers to stay with the same congregation for such a long period of time. The fact that they’ve “put up with us” for so long is a testament to their gracious and forgiving spirit. We so love our church family here. I have been blessed to teach Bible classes for all ages, but I especially love teaching our Ladies’ Bible class each Sunday morning. They are such an inspiration and encouragement to me. I pray that we have many more years together to serve the Lord.

I pray that each of you take the opportunity to worship today on the “Lord’s Day!” Simply blessed, Courtney
