What Are You Doing?

Have you ever heard a “crash” down the hall or maybe you realize that it’s gotten a little “too quiet” in there, and you find yourself calling out – “What’s going on? What are you doing?” There are times when I can imagine our heavenly Father asking the same thing when He looks down on us – “What are you doing?”

In Colossians 3:23, Paul urged members of the church at Colossae, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” So, what are you doing? The memory verse in my Scripture Writing Schedule this week was Colossians 3:17. “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.” This was also true under the law of Moses for the children of Israel were told, “Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that you do” (Deuteronomy 29:9). Jesus said, “For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. If you know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.” So one of the things that we should be doing is serving others – heartily, as to the Lord. Are you serving without complaining? In Luke 6:35, Jesus told us to “love your enemies and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again, and your reward should be great. . .” Is this something that you are doing? James 2:8 says, “But if ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well.” How well are you doing with loving others? Do you study God’s word? In Matthew 22:29, Jesus said, ‘You do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.'” I hope that you are not guilty of erring by not knowing the scriptures.

If you have left the Lord, there is something that you can do! Like Samuel told the house of Israel, “If you do return unto the Lord with all your hearts. . .He will deliver you…”(I Samuel 7:3). “Whether therefore ye eat or drink or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” (I Corinthians 10:31). So everything that we say and everything that we do, should be things that bring glory to God. What are you doing? Simply blessed, Courtney
