Do you consider yourself a procrastinator? Are you waiting for the “perfect time?” Procrastination is when we’re so busy doing things that we don’t need to do in order to avoid doing the things that we do need to do! I know of some folks who put the “pro” in “procrastinator!” Some times we’re so busy waiting to get our ducks in a row that we never make it across the street! Is this you? I know of couples who wait for the “perfect day” to get married (and of course, it ends up raining!), or maybe they think that once they have their student loans paid off and have moved into their own home that they’ll be financially stable enough to start thinking about having a family. That’s almost funny to those of us who know that you’ll never be able to afford children! You just do it! Are you guilty of putting off going back to school or holding out for the perfect job? I’m not sure that there is such a thing since we are constantly growing and changing. How many times have we said, “I’ll start my diet on Monday” – not necessarily next Monday, but. . .
There are some decisions that could cost us our souls, if we put them off. Some people say, “I’m going to start going to church soon.” But, Sunday comes around once again and “something else” is deemed “more important” than worshiping and praising God. Then, there is the time when one comes to the realization that you are a sinner and you’re lost. Like Ananias told Saul “Why tarriest thou? Arise and be baptized and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord” (Acts 22:16). What’s the hurry? Well, “behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (II Corinthians 6:2) Living the Christian life is such wonderful experience – you can’t start too soon!
My friends, if there is a hill to climb, waiting won’t make it smaller. Start now for tomorrow may never come. Simply blessed, Courtney
