Have you ever been feeling pretty good about yourself and the way things are going when – BAM! Reality rears it’s ugly head and once again you’re knocked back to humbleness again. It hurts, but I suppose in the long run, there are benefits to being reprimanded and chastised.
One thing is: we’ll never make that exact mistake again. Now, I’m sure that we’ll make plenty of others that are similar, but we will go out of our way to make sure that the “i’s are dotted and the t’s are crossed” when it comes to that exact mistake. Another benefit is while we might not have learned how “to do” something, we have definitely learned how “not” to do it. This will enable us to try to “think outside the box” and perhaps come up with a new solution that we’ve never dreamed was needed until the need was pointed out to us. It truly is beneficial to get “put in our place” every once in a while because none of us are perfect. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). No, we’re not sinless. We make mistakes. But we are LOVED! Simply blessed, Courtney
